The pleasure of sharing knowledge
To me, research, academic teaching, and explaining physics to the general public are inextricably connected. When I learn something new and exciting, I feel an urge to share my knowledge and excitement with others.
As a PhD student, I started blogging and writing popular physics news articles for several online projects, mostly in Russian. In 2005–2020, I wrote several hundred news articles and ran several projects for elementy.ru and nplus1.ru. I also gave public lectures and participated in outreach activities in all universities where I worked.
Here is a fully mechanical model of a particle collider that we built for 2011 Science Spring Festival in Liège, Belgium.
